About Accountant in Sussex

Finding an accountant is harder than it looks. Most people only go looking when a deadline is close or a letter has arrived from HMRC, and it can be difficult to tell what you need, what it should cost and what to ask. We set the site up to answer those questions in one place, without jargon, and to give people a simple way to ask for help.

We are an information and enquiry service. We read every enquiry we receive and, where we can, pass it on to a local accountant, who then deals with you directly.

We are not an accountancy firm. We do not prepare accounts or tax returns, we do not act for anyone with HMRC, and we do not give tax, legal or financial advice. Our guides explain how the rules work in general; an accountant can tell you how they apply to you.

• Every rate, threshold, deadline and penalty comes from an official source, mostly GOV.UK, HMRC, Companies House and the Charity Commission, and each page lists its sources.
• Every price comes from a named provider or survey, with its date and whether VAT is included. These are UK figures; we never present them as Sussex prices.
• Pages are checked against their sources by a second reviewer before they are published, and anything announced but not yet law is marked as such.
• We do not accept payment to change what a guide says, and we do not rate or rank accountancy firms.

Rules change, usually each April and after each Budget. If you spot something out of date, please let us know.

The site is written for sole traders and freelancers, limited company directors, landlords, people filing a self assessment tax return for the first time, and the treasurers of small charities and clubs.
